Need help preparing to take the GED Tests? Schedule an intake appointment to register for GED test prep classes. The next one is the in-person intake Friday, 20th of February at 10:00 am. It is located on the ground floor in the back right corner, E124 is the classroom. This is in the Main Library at 303 N Laura Street, Downtown. Make sure to use the parking garage at 33 W Duval St, Jacksonville, FL 32202 or a parking meter. If you park in the garage, bring your parking ticket to your appointment, so we can instruct you on getting it validated before you leave. Please no children allowed, you will be taking a reading assessment. Please be on time because we will close the door at 1010 am. The process usually lasts until 1130 am.

Jacksonville will come alive with a historic, world-class tribute celebrating the 126th Anniversary of “Lift Every Voice and Sing", composed by James Weldon Johnson, and set to music by his brother, J. Rosamond Johnson. The Lift Every Voice and Sing World Tribute will be a multi-day event filled with performances, dialogues, and cultural celebrations, highlighting the legacy of Johnson and his iconic song. The event will culminate in a stirring performance by the Friends of Brentwood Branch Children’s Choir.

Join a National Park Service Ranger for an exciting new adventure! In this fun and interactive program, kids will explore the wonders of the outdoors, discover fascinating animals and plants, and learn about the importance of protecting our natural resources. With hands-on activities and storytelling, young adventurers will gain a deeper appreciation for the environment and history in Jacksonville.

The New Worlds Reading Family Literacy Event is an interactive reading experience designed for children in VPK through 5th grade. Families will enjoy engaging stories, hands-on reading activities, fun learning experiences together, and a free lunch! Parents and caregivers will gain practical strategies for reading aloud at home and meaningful ways to support their child’s literacy development. Attendees will also have the opportunity to enroll in the Free Book Delivery Program and learn how to receive free books in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, and Braille. Advance registration is required.

Cautionary Tales book club explores science fiction, horror, and thrillers with a slant towards cautionary tales. The club will delve into the frightening nature of horror stories, the cautionary aspects of many science fiction stories, and the page turning events within thriller novels. Register
