Life Lab: Adaptive Gardening
with UF-IFAS
Monday, September 28
6:00pm - 7:15pm
Southeast Regional
Room BGardeners love to spend time in their yard, but we can pay for our efforts with sore muscles, drained energy, and, in some cases, injuries. No matter the age or ability, adaptive gardening matters to the average gardener because it keeps us safe and makes our landscapes more manageable. Come join us to find out how to put Adaptive Gardening into practice.
In this talk, we will discuss:
- The mental and physical benefits of growing plants without straining your back, knees, or hands.
- Steps you can take to prevent physical pain and protect against injury.
- Ways to keep our gardens accessible as our bodies change over time.
- How smart layouts, ergonomic tools, and raised beds can allow us to make gardening a more pleasant experience.
Register to save your seat. Registration must be completed two hours prior to the start time. A library card and PIN are required for registration. If you do not already have one, you can apply for a library card online.
All registered seats will be forfeited at 5:55 (5 minutes before the program start time) and made available to waitlisted and walk-in attendees. Registered attendees arriving after this time will be seated if seats are available.
Pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, accommodations for persons with disabilities are available upon request. Please allow 1–2 business days to process. Last-minute requests will be accepted, but may not be possible to fulfill. Please ask for Learning Services at (904) 255-2665 or email JPLPrograms@coj.net.
