Conference Level Learning SpaceIn this workshop, participants will write and polish a short piece of "flash fiction." Learn editing tricks and a few behind-the-scenes secrets of publication with award-winning Florida author, Crissa-Jean Chappell.
About the Presenter: Crissa-Jean Chappell was born in Miami and now lives in Brooklyn, New York. She is the author of several award-winning novels including TOTAL CONSTANT ORDER (a VOYA Perfect Ten and New York Public Library Book for the Teen Age), MORE THAN GOOD ENOUGH, which Kirkus calls “compelling and emotionally nuanced...” (a Florida Book Award medalist) and SNOWBIRDS (“...an engrossing mystery...” School Library Journal). SUN DON’T SHINE is a Children’s Book Council Favorite. Her most recent novel is NEVER LEAVE ME ALONE. She holds a PhD and MFA from the University of Miami and is a professor of creative writing at Lehman College. When she misses South Florida, she talks to the parrots in Green-Wood Cemetery.
Crissa-Jean Chappell presents a 90-minute hands on workshop helping participants to write and polish flash fiction. Books by the author will be available for purchase at the end of the program.
Register to save your seat. Registration must be completed two hours prior to the start time. A library card and PIN are required for registration. If you do not already have one, you can apply for a library card online.
All registered seats will be forfeited at 1:55 pm and made available to waitlisted and walk-in attendees. Registered attendees arriving after this time will be seated if seats are available.
