Reading Books with Billy the Therapy Dog!
Therapy dog-assisted reading gives children a unique experience, to read to a canine buddy in a safe environment.
Therapy dogs are specially trained for this activity and can help reduce your child’s stress and anxiety. Reading to dogs can boost reading skills in children as well as help with emotional and social skills, giving your child the opportunity to read to a canine buddy or companion in a safe and nonjudgmental environment. Drop-in between 3:30 and 4:30 pm to give your child an opportunity to practice their reading skills one-on-one with a trained therapy dog.
Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. This activity is for all ages (everyone). Attendance is limited.
Pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, accommodations for persons with disabilities are available upon request. Please allow 1–2 business days to process. Last-minute requests will be accepted, but may not be possible to fulfill. Please ask for Learning Services at 255-2665 or email JPLPrograms@coj.net.
