Beyond the Panel Book Club

There’s something for everyone in the world of comics and graphic novels! Join us at Pablo Creek Library the second Thursday of every month at 4 p.m. to explore genres you might have overlooked in the past. No specific book is required to be read to attend this book club.

Want to talk about great graphic novels with other readers but don't want to commit to reading a specific one? This book club is for you! Each month we'll have a featured topic -- you pick a graphic novel that fits that topic and come to the meeting ready to talk about it!

June 8: Superheroes Is it a Bird? A Plane? NO! IT’S SUPERHERO COMICS! Join us at Pablo Creek to discuss the genre that has taken America’s comic industry by storm. What started with Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the creators of the Man of Steel himself, has evolved to universes of superheroes with a rich history and a diverse range of stories. From DC to Marvel and beyond there is a book for you.

July 13: Horror From cautionary tales to eldritch horror, there are graphic novels to make your skin crawl. Be shocked! Feel fear! Then come to the Pablo creek library and tell us about your new phobias.

August 10: Non-Fiction Want to learn about the universe? How about civilization or even comics? There is a graphic novel for that. Graphic novels are an excellent way to learn history or the process of making bread. Learn something new in a new way, then come talk to us about what you learned.

Register to save your seat. Registration must be completed two hours prior to the start time. A library card and PIN are required for registration. If you do not have a card, click HERE to obtain one.
