What happens when book culture meets cookout energy? Casey R. Kelley is a book lover who champions YA and adult fiction by Black authors and the founder of Casey Kelley Media Agency (CKMA), Black Book Bash, and Harlem Renaissance 2.0. In this workshop, she shares how she turned grassroots buzz into real influence, bridging the gap between publishing, readers, and Black literary creators. Learn how marketing, mutual aid, and digital community are reshaping who gets seen, heard, and paid in publishing.
PRESENTER BIO: Casey R. Kelley is a strategist, storyteller, and literary matchmaker. As a lifelong reader and digital trend-watcher, she turned her own platform into a bridge between publishing and the Black readers who drive the culture. Casey founded CKMA to ensure Black books get the attention they deserve--not just in numbers, but in alignment.
She is the founding partner of Harlem Renaissance 2.0 and the visionary behind Black Book Bash- an all-black literary festival taking place October 3-5, 2025, in Jacksonville, FL. You may follow Casey’s Bookshelf (@iamcaseyrkelley) or #BlackBook on Threads, #BlackBookstagram, and #BlackBookTok.
When she’s not building campaigns or curating author rosters, you can find her on Threads breaking down why the girls still don’t understand Black speculative fiction.
