Attendance is limited and is first-come first-served. Please arrive early to check in. Check in starts 30 minutes prior to the start of the program. Late entry will not be permitted after 15 minutes past the program’s start time.
This program is intended for youth participants and their families. Large groups or organizations should send program requests to jplyouthservices@coj.net two days prior to the program. All requests may not be accommodated.
Pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, accommodations for persons with disabilities are available upon request. Please allow 1–2 business days to process. They then take part in “Rehab or Release?”, a hands‑on activity where they act as biologists, collect data on a model sea turtle, and decide whether it’s ready to return to the ocean or needs rehabilitation. Along the way, they practice real scientific skills and learn about the human impacts affecting sea turtles today. No live turtles are included in this program.

Students discover what makes a sea turtle unique, learn about the species found in Florida, explore their adaptations and nesting process, and find out how they can help protect these animals. They then take part in “Rehab or Release?”, a hands‑on activity where they act as biologists, collect data on a model sea turtle, and decide whether it’s ready to return to the ocean or needs rehabilitation. Along the way, they practice real scientific skills and learn about the human impacts affecting sea turtles today. No live turtles are included in this program.

Join the Jacksonville Zoo and Botanical Gardens for a fun and educational presentation on some of the hidden wonders of the natural world.
