Life Lab: Genetic Genealogy Workshop
DNA Research for African American Families with Adrienne Abiodun
Saturday, August 01
10:00am - 12:00pm
Main Library
Multipurpose Room 1, 2 and 3Life Labs are free workshops offered by trained professionals and volunteers that focus on improving your day to day life. These programs cover a wide range of workshops from gardening to small business needs. No need to bring anything but yourself to participate! The Jacksonville Public Library offers excellent resources for genealogical research for use in the library and/or from home.
During this presentation, participants will learn practical and simple steps to take when incorporating genetic evidence; review genetic genealogy basics, i.e., who and where to test (with different types of DNA tests); common research pitfalls to avoid; and development of targeted testing plans when additional test takers are required. Research strategies will be tailored to African American family research and presented in an informative storytelling style.
Adrienne’s delivery of genetic genealogy processes and materials can be beneficial for many with an interest in DNA and African American genealogy.
Adrienne Abiodun is a professional genealogist located outside of Tampa, Florida. Combined, her personal and professional genealogical pursuits span over two decades.
