Imagine that book you’re writing or have always wanted to write sitting on the shelves at Barnes and Noble and being checked out by your neighbors from the Library. Whether you’re just thinking about your first writing project or working on the next chapter of your epic series, the Library’s Writing Lab will move your story along, break through writer’s block and get you ready to send that book to the editor.
Big Magic Creativity Workshop with Elizabeth Gilbert
Please note: For this workshop Ms. Gilbert requests that all electronics be left behind. Bring a notebook and writing utensil.
No recording will be made of this workshop.
From Gilbert: "I will be teaching what I consider to be 4 of the necessary emotional components of a creative life: Enchantment, Permission, Courage, and Wisdom. The workshop will be divided into those 4 chapters, and I will lead people into writing exercises where — in simple letter form (letters to and from parts of themselves) — the participants will be invited to explore their creative dreams and emotional obstacles, and to learn how to navigate different voices within their own minds. It’s important to stress that this workshop is for ALL people — even those who might say or themselves: “I don’t have a creative bone in my body.” No particular writing skills are needed, nor any grand artistic imagination. Creative living is not necessarily about producing great works of art; it’s about living as though your life itself is the work of art. I look forward to meeting everybody and going on this journey of exploration together!"
