April is National Poetry Month, and we're celebrating it during the Downtown Art Walk by partnering with Douglass Anderson School of the Arts' creative writing majors and Élan Literary Magazine staff to host a poetry writing event in the Teen Room! No registration is required. Ages 12-18.
Douglass Anderson's School of the Arts along with Élan Literary Magazine will host a drop-in ekphrasis poetry writing event in the Teen Room at the Main Library during April's Downtown Art Walk. Ekphrastic poetry is a poem inspired by a work of visual art. Élan Literary Magazine pairs teen art and writing, unveiling intersections of these art forms in their imagery and storytelling. In this activity, Douglas Anderson School of the Arts Creative Writing majors and Élan staff members will guide participants through the creative process as they use visual art published in recent and past issues of Élan to inspire poetic writing. Registration is not required, but it is encouraged! Ages 12-18.
