History Chat: Jacksonville's Railways
with Christian Martinez
Tuesday, January 05
6:30pm - 7:30pm
Regency Square Branch
Community Room A&BHistory Chat is a one hour program in which a lecturer speaks about a topic in local or national history followed by an audience Q&A session.
Jacksonville is full of history, from Downtown to Eastport, Springfield to Riverside, San Pablo to Oakleaf, and everywhere in between. Rail history is especially integral in Jacksonville’s story, and still today plays a huge part in the daily operations of logistics centers, semi truck routes, and you. We’ll answer questions about general history, Jacksonville’s supply chain, and how we as citizens can learn from history. Using maps, city documents, and historic photographs from local collections, we’ll explore the real Jacksonville, from the 19th century to today.
Christian Martinez (@multicolor films) is a railway enthusiast who is currently studying film and journalism at the University of Florida
