Live from the Library: ScienceSIS: Rock Stars
Thursday, June 25
3:00pm - 4:00pm
Brentwood Branch
Meeting RoomYoung geologists are invited to dig into the fascinating world beneath their feet. In this hands‑on program, kids explore the rock cycle and discover how rocks and minerals act as Earth’s storytellers, revealing clues about our planet’s formation and ever‑changing surface. Participants will handle real rock and mineral specimens, practice simple testing techniques, and learn how to classify different types of rocks. Through guided observation and comparison, they’ll build the skills scientists use to understand Earth’s dynamic processes.
Attendance is limited and is first-come first-served. Please arrive early to check in. Check in starts 30 minutes prior to the start of the program. Late entry will not be permitted after 15 minutes past the program’s start time.
This program is intended for youth participants and their families. Large groups or organizations should send program requests to jplyouthservices@coj.net two days prior to the program. All requests may not be accommodated.
Pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, accommodations for persons with disabilities are available upon request. Please allow 1–2 business days to process. Last-minute requests will be accepted, but may not be possible to fulfill. Please ask for Learning Services at 255-2665 or email JPLprograms@coj.net.
