Dust off those capes, grab your favorite set of dice, and start your next adventure at the Main Library. Jax Pop Con is a celebration of all the books, comics, games, TV shows, and movies we love... set in the heart of Downtown Jacksonville! Free and open to the public. 

Make memories, make friends, and show off your best cosplay or fandom-inspired art. 

Activities include:

  • Cosplay Contests (and prizes)
  • Interactions with Special Guest Cosplayers
  • Artists Alley (featuring 40+ local creators)
  • Video Game Tournaments with Extra Life Jax
  • Dungeons & Dragons One-Shot Adventures
  • Escape Me Mobile escape room experience
  • Workshops for teens and adults
  • Face painting, balloon artists, and more!

Note: A library card is required to pre-register for Writer's Lab and Life Lab (SFX makeup) workshops. You may also be asked to show your card at "Little Readers" Storytime or when checking in for other activities. Duval County residents can apply for a card online or in-person, with valid ID, at any of our 21 Jacksonville Public Library locations.

Code of Conduct

All attendees must enter (and exit) through the Main Library's entrance at 303 N. Laura Street, except in cases of emergency. There will be gaming and other activities throughout the Conference Level, however, the Conference Center doors on Main Street will be closed for this event.

Please keep in mind that this is an all-ages event. Additionally:

  • Be aware of Library policy, specifically the Code of Conduct, while attending
  • Costumes and general attire must provide the same level of body coverage expected under the Code of Conduct
  • Library staff or security personnel may inspect any item or costume at any time
  • Failure to comply with these instructions may result in immediate removal from the event 

If you have questions, please visit the Security Desk inside the Library during the event.

Never visited the Main Library? Street parking in Downtown Jacksonville is free on the weekends. During special events, the Duval Street Parking Garage (33 W. Duval St.) charges a special event rate of $5 for the day and there is no validation for library visitors. Fee is due upon entry.

Come to the library and meet Kiwi: a super soft poodle-mix that loves kids, books, and cookies. Kiwi is a licensed therapy dog and knows over 20 commands. Read her a story, and she will be your new best friend! Kids in attendance will receive a special customized tattoo, sticker of Kiwi or a magnet of Kiwi (while supplies last). This event is for children ages 5-12. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration recommended. Walk-ins are first come, first serve.

Information to know before you come: We will meet in the Teen Room. Please bring your library card so you might log into one of the computers. A Taste of Genealogy is a collaborative experience where hobbyists like yourself help one another expand family trees using tools available through the Jacksonville Public Library. Staff and volunteers will offer assistance to those who have no experience and would like to begin their family research journey. Adoptees are welcome. Ask the customer service desk for information on how to make an appointment for one on one assistance from library staff.
